Call for Presentations
We invite you to present at the Association of Montana Floodplain Managers (AMFM) Conference. Our 27th annual gathering will take place February 23–26, 2027, in Billings, Montana. Presentations will begin on Wednesday, February 24, and conclude mid‑day on Friday, February 26.
The AMFM Conference and Workshops are geared toward floodplain professionals in both the government and private sectors. We are seeking a broad range of presenters who are associated with all aspects of the floodplain world. The AMFM conference agenda is intended to inform and educate local floodplain administrators and professionals in the engineering, surveying, planning, and sanitarian fields.
Our conference and workshops are accepted for “Continuing Education Credits” by most professional organizations. If it is not accepted by your organization, we are happy to work with you to get it approved.
If you’ve attended an AMFM conference before, you are aware of our professional yet relaxed environment where you can deepen your understanding of floodplain management while exchanging ideas with peers. If you haven’t attended or presented at an AMFM conference, we invite you to join us and experience our diverse and welcoming community. This is a valuable opportunity to connect, collaborate, and contribute—your knowledge and practical experience to the conversations that shape our field.
The topics for presentations can include case studies involving floodplain projects, the various permitting processes, flood hazard mapping, FEMA funding, floodplain developments, subdivisions, insurance, stream restoration, bank stabilization, or other floodplain related topics. Based on feedback, members are especially interested in seeing collaborative presentations involving both Floodplain Administrators and Engineers. Topics of a similar nature are welcome, as are case studies illustrating related principles.
Presentations cannot be longer than 1 hour in duration, which includes questions from the audience. Proposals constituting sales pitches for products or services will not be considered.
The form requests: (1) your abstract of 300 words or less, (2) primary presenter’s contact information (name, title, organization, phone, email), and (3) the approximate time needed for your presentation (20, 30, or 45 mins, not including questions from the audience).
Abstracts must be submitted no later than Friday, December 1, 2026.
Selected presenters will be notified by email by late – December. Registration fees will be discounted 50% for the primary presenter (one fee discounted per selected abstract), all presenters must register for the conference if they wish to participate in conference sessions beyond their presentation.
